Eat Out: Sagingrepablik

What is your favorite fruit? Apples? Mangoes? Durian? Watermelon? If you ask me, my favorite fruit is banana! It's the best -- you can eat it with icecream, in a shake, on top of a sandwich with Nutella, have it cooked and served as minatamis/pinatamis (cooked banana with caramelized sugar), eat it as banana cue, or even just bring it as a snack on its own. It's really awesome!

So... it was really exciting to hear about a new concept restaurant here in Davao which boasts of everything banana from its rice meals to its bread and other desserts which they call "Sagingese Cuisine". The name of the restaurant? Sagingrepablik. My girlfriends and I decided to eat here because it was new to all of us and we wanted to try the hype!
It's exterior and interiors are very industrial and modern.

Really cool lighting

Eat Out: Miko's Brew in Tagum City

My bestfriend and I were on a mission yesterday to travel 2 hours away from Davao City to process a needed document. We headed 55 kilometers up north, to Tagum City! (Yes, malayo pinuntahan namin just to avoid long lines in Davao). We rode a non-aircon bus from Ecoland Terminal and that cost 70.00 php. However, the trip was kinda long because it kept on stopping for passengers every now and then. The last time I was in Tagum was still in 4th year high school, and it's pretty cool to kind of explore the place without the confines of a school bus! As a sidetrip from our "adult processing duties", we planned to go out and have desserts in Miko's Brew. One of our close friends suggested that we go and visit-- and visit we did!
Royal Palm Trees along Daang Maharlika
To get there (and anywhere in Tagum), you can ride their color-coded tricycles for a minimum fare of 9.00 php. Drivers actually ask you where you're headed to before you ride so make sure the driver clearly heard what you said because we experienced being brought to a different place because the driver didn't hear it right! I guess most tricycle drivers are familiar with Miko's Brew so it's fairly easy to get there.

Eat Out: BFF Dinner at Simply J's

This place is definitely one of my favorite restaurants already! My bestfriend, Ken, and I decided to have one last dinner together in Cebu (for the meantime) before she heads back to Dumaguete. I have always passed by this restaurant on my drives around the city, and I've always wanted to go and visit! Buti nalang I remembered this place when we were both planning to go. As what I expected the place to be, it was really pretty, classy, and cozy! I love the lighting, the interiors, the wall colors, the chairs, the lamps... in short, everything!

Stuffed Chicken Parcel, left; Grilled Pork Tenderloin, right
They have a great food selection too! Their menu is also easily accessible on Facebook so you can choose what you want to order beforehand! I think everything is priced reasonably and the food was really sumptuous! Check out their Facebook page here.

The ambiance was so perfect for our "medyo grown-up" BFF conversations. Experiences in retrospect have it's way of making us smile and laugh, don't they? Time flies so fast. The next time we'll be seeing each other, we will already have our respective college degrees! Naabot pa kami sa topic na, "Siguro ang ginagawa nalang kapag nagatanda (tumatanda in Filipino) noh kay magsige try-try nalang ng mga food parati." HAHAHAHA! Siguro nga.

Eat Out: Brunch Desserts Ice Cream Boutique

My bestfriend (Ken) and I decided to hang out a little bit more together since she'll be leaving for Dumaguete next week because her internship in Cebu is already coming to an end! It was already late in the evening so we both decided to stay somewhere near the place she's staying... so we went to St. Patrick's Square. I haven't been here before so it was an "uncharted" place for me!

Good thing Brunch Desserts was still open at that time. We ordered Chocolate Crepe (95 php) to share with each other because everything was so impromptu, I didn't bring extra money that day! Also, we were full from dinner, so "sharing is loving" ang peg. Hehehe

The crepe was very simple. It was topped with dark chocolate syrup and chocolate icecream. There is not much to say how it compares to other crepes I've tasted in other dessert shops in Cebu, but I think it's very simple and there's nothing really special about it.

It's great that the place had a fun vibe in it since it was really cute and colorful... though I don't think it's such a nice place to study out and make projects since they charge 100 pesos or so (an hour) for plugging your laptops.

Probably I'll be coming back here to try their Mango Tango ice cream sundae (it's their best seller). This place is definitely for those who want to stay in places that are not too crowded. Brunch Desserts is located behind St. Theresa's College, in St. Patrick's square. It's after St. Mark Hotel, if you're coming from Redemptorist. :-)
P.S. All photos are from Ken's phone! :>

Surprises in Cafe Caw

Hello, I've been really busy lately with internship, thesis, and school. It was such a breath of fresh air when Ken and I planned a date in another cute coffee shop called Cafe Caw! Actually this is the second branch located in Lahug... the first one was also cute, but was more quaint compared to this new one.

Here's pics of one time my Mak and I hung out in the Cafe Caw Talamban branch:

Similar with the first branch, Cafe Caw Lahug had the same pastel, cute, Asian coffee shop theme. However, the new one boasts a bigger space and a wider menu range. Ken and I ordered something called 'waffle surprise' basically because it sounded delicious and because usually waffle servings can easily cater two.

Eat Out: Sprockets and Cafe Maru

Good morning to anyone whoever stumbles on this blog post! It's now 12:04 in the morning, and I'm forcing myself to type with my left hand. The consequences await me when I wake up, for sure! Anyway, I have been enjoying my semestral break so far, considering this is my last one in college. It's been a mixture of chilling at home, cleaning (here and there), and bonding with people that I usually don't get to hang out with during schooldays! Last week, Ken came to visit Cebu for a short detour before heading home to Davao. We went window shopping first, then headed home to leave her things, then went ahead to Sprockets (TC branch) to have some sort of snacks and dessert.

P.S. We had an early dinner at 3 pm teehee!

It was Ken's first time here, *gasp* as well as myself! So it was a new experience for both of us. We just wanted to hang out somewhere nice for added environment factors to our conversations :> It was such a chill place to stay because they had bean bags where you can just throw yourself into and no one would even bother! Here's a look at their place:
